What can we tell you about SilkFred?
Launched in 2011 and supported by a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2013, SilkFred is an online marketplace that champions independent fashion companies and unknown, developing designers. Identifying a gap in the retail category, SilkFred now stocks over 600 brands which includes many client brands of ours such as Urban Mist, Goldkid London, Feverfish, Madam Rage, Blue Vanilla, AX Paris, Miss Truth and many more…
In short, SilkFred is now a major ecomm sales channel for UK fashion brands, attracting over 800,000 followers.
In an interview earlier in the year with The London Economic, Co-Founder and CEO Emma Watkinson spoke about her passion in working with smaller brands. When asked about how they are influencing the fashion industry, she highlighted that small independents were more responsive than the big names, due to listening to their customers and building long-lasting relationships.
As she says, “Smaller independent brands are responding directly to what customers want and stripping away the layers in between themselves and the customer. With many of the successful smaller brands, it’s the designer or brand owner on the other end of the social media accounts.”
With an eye on international growth but many copycat brands hot on their heels, SilkFred also stands out by adopting a social media look and feel across their platform. Customers can not only browse collections but also view what others have bought, as there is an option to upload and share photos. It’s a clever mix of social media and ecommerce, similar in many ways to what Depop has also pioneered.
Our SilkFred integration
We are now integrated with SilkFred which means that if you are (or want to) trade with the platform, you will save a huge amount of man hours because SilkFred orders will arrive in your system instantly.
To activate the integration, all we have to do is enable it (“switch it on”) within i.LEVEL. It’s quick, demands little or no development time, and it’s offered at a compelling price. All that’s left for us to do is to train the user for the specific integration. That’s quick too!
